Privacy Policy
The short version. Sharp is built to keep your data on your phone. Your Screen Time and app-usage data never leave your device. We don't show ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data. The only things we store in the cloud are the basics needed to back up your progress and run friend leaderboards — and only if you choose to use those features.
This policy explains what information Sharp ("we," "us," the "app") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Sharp is operated as an independent app available on the Apple App Store. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@sharpdaily.app.
1. Screen Time data stays on your device
Sharp uses Apple's Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks to help you limit your own apps. With your explicit, opt-in permission, you choose which of your own apps to guard and set a personal daily time limit.
- The selection of apps you guard is represented by opaque tokens that Apple does not let us read, and it is stored only on your device.
- We do not collect, transmit, store off-device, or share your Screen Time data, app-usage data, or app selections.
- None of this data is ever used for analytics or advertising.
Sharp is a self-control tool for managing your own device. It is not a parental-control, monitoring, or surveillance product.
2. Account & progress data
To save your streak and XP and to power friend leaderboards, Sharp stores a small amount of data in our cloud backend (hosted by Supabase). Depending on how you use the app, this may include:
- A random account identifier (created automatically — no signup required to start).
- Your chosen display name / nickname, streak count, XP, and a short invite code.
- Friend connections you create by exchanging invite codes.
Your display name, XP, and streak are visible to people you connect with and may appear on leaderboards within the app. We do not collect your contacts.
Sign in with Apple (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Apple to back up your account across devices, Apple provides us with a unique identifier and, if you allow it, an email address (which may be Apple's private relay address) and your name. We use these only to secure your account and sync your progress. We never receive your Apple password.
3. Daily news briefings
Sharp downloads its daily current-affairs briefings from a public content file we publish. This is a simple download — no personal information is sent when your app fetches the day's content.
4. Payments & subscriptions
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Sharp never sees or stores your payment-card details or billing information — Apple handles all billing and tells the app only whether your subscription is active. Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your Apple account settings.
5. What we do NOT do
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites (no IDFA / App Tracking Transparency tracking).
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
6. Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers that help us run the app, and only as needed to provide it:
- Supabase — stores your account and progress data on our behalf.
- Apple — provides Sign in with Apple and processes subscription payments.
We may disclose information if required by law. Otherwise, we don't share your data.
7. Data retention & your choices
- You can change your display name and news preferences at any time in the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated cloud data by emailing privacy@sharpdaily.app. We will delete it promptly.
- Deleting the app removes all on-device data (including your guarded-app selection and limits).
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA). To exercise these rights, contact us at the address above. We do not sell personal information.
8. Security
Data sent between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Access to account data is restricted by row-level security so that each account can only read and write its own records.
9. Children
Sharp is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here.
